Mapping Ad Types to AI Interactions

When you think about “ads in conversations”, it helps to separate into two layers:

  1. Classical ad formats that run around or alongside chat experiences.
  2. In-tool ad patterns that you own inside your AI workflow or custom tool.

We’ll start with the classical formats in order to have a shared language, then narrow down to the ad types that can be more easily implemented into tools. You will also see why we chose those types and where they fire in interactions.
